Wounds can be challenging to treat. Every time a wound needs to be cleaned, there is the possibility of disrupting the new tissue growth. Luckily, there are some great options to help address these challenges. Gels, for example, are more water soluble than creams or ointments, which can make rinsing and cleaning a would much easier and less disruptive. We are able to custom compound gels to contain the appropriate drugs as requested by a practitioner.
Another alternative is a polyox bandage, which is a powder that is puffed onto a wound and adheres to form a cover. As per the prescription order, a selection of drugs can be mixed with the polyox bandage which can assist in speeding up the healing of the wound.
We have worked with many people to successfully heal wounds that were at one point considered so bad as to require amputation.
If skin irritation or wound odor is also a challenge, there are also some possible solutions you can explore. Do you struggle with oral or esophageal ulcers, peristomal or perineal excoriation, decubitus ulcers, radiation-induced rectal or vaginal ulcerations, second or third degree burns? Give us a call, we may be able to help you find a solution.
